Molotov Alva and His Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey is een
52 minuten durende documentaire, samengesteld uit tien videodagboeken van
Molotov Alva, die in januari 2007 van de aardbodem verdween om vervolgens in
virtuele gedaante op te duiken in Second Life. De dagboeken vormen de basis
van de documentaire die Douglas Gayeton regisseerde.
De eerste aflevering van deze documentaire werd gelanceerd op You Tube en
was direct een enorm succes. De film stond direct enkele dagen nummer 1 op
You Tube en trok hierdoor aandacht van verschillende grote Amerikaanse
zenders.
De Nederlandse producent Submarine verkocht de N-Amerikaanse
televisierechten aan omroep HBO. Voor zover bekend, is het voor het eerst dat
een film gelanceerd op Youtube, is aangekocht door een grote televisiezender.
Molotov Alva and His Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey is de
eerste Minimovie in een reeks van acht documentaires, speciaal geproduceerd
voor online video kanalen, Ipod en mobiele telefoon. De documentaire zal in
augustus 2008 worden uitgezonden door de VPRO televisie en het digitale
kanaal Holland Doc.
Biografie Douglas Gayeton
Douglas Gayeton schreef en regisseerde, samen met William Gibson, 'Johnny
Mnemonic', de eerste interactieve film op cd-rom, in opdracht van Sony
Imagesoft. In 2004 won hij de prijs voor 'Beste Geanimeerde TV Serie' tijdens
het Annecy Film Festival, voor de digitaal geanimeerde serie, 'Delta State'.
Gayeton regisseerde de afgelopen jaren vele interactieve producties voor
onder meer AOL, MSN, Vivendi en Napster.
Submarine
Submarine (http://www.submarine.nl) is een Amsterdams productiebedrijf,
gespecialiseerd in documentaires, animatieseries en games met internationale
potentie. Submarine produceerde de afgelopen jaren onder meer de 26-delige
animatieserie 'Kika & Bob' en documentaires als 'Viktor & Rolf: because we
are worth it!' en 'De Terrorist: Hans - Joachim Klein'. Momenteel is o.a. de
nieuwe documentaire van Peter Greenaway J'Acusse in productie. Submarine werd
in 2000 opgericht door Bruno Felix en Femke Wolting.
Dit is een Submarine productie in coproductie met de VPRO en Vrij
Nederland en wordt gedistribueerd door SubmarineChannel. Submarinechannel is
