Dont underestimate the SLA's role in accountability. For companies that have dynamic requirements and no down time can be afforded, make sure you have very tight SLAs. For example, OpSource provides a 100% SLA in the cloud and 100%SLA around production application environments. Now 100% is ideally perfect, it comes down to accountability, yo...

Iconix Pharmaceuticals Wins InfoWorld 100 Award for Innovative Use of TIBCO's AJAX Technology
Iconix Leverages TIBCO's Industry-Proven General Interface Solution for Building Powerful Rich Internet Applications

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TIBCO Software Inc. , a leading business integration and process management software company that enables real-time business, today announced that its customer -- Iconix Pharmaceuticals -- has been honored with an InfoWorld 100 Award for its creative use of TIBCO General Interface Framework. Iconix Pharmaceuticals' leveraged TIBCO's AJAX solution to develop and power an intuitive, high productivity graphical user interface (GUI) for its comprehensive DrugMatrix(R) database.

TIBCO General Interface is the industry's most mature Rich Internet Application (RIA) development solution based on Asynchronous communication, JavaScript and XML (AJAX) technology. Iconix first deployed DrugMatrix with the General Interface Framework in 2001 leveraging development techniques from AJAX technology.

TIBCO's powerful RIA framework and visual development tools enabled Iconix to bring together its vast array of chemogenomics data into a single, easy-to- use, highly interactive Web application that looked, felt and performed like desktop software, yet was instantly accessible through a standard Web browser. Additionally, Iconix relied on TIBCO's RIA offering to bring DrugMatrix, which includes over 180 AJAX-powered end user screens, to market far more quickly and cost-effectively than would have otherwise been possible through alternative software development models.

"Iconix is honored to be listed among the top IT innovators in the InfoWorld 100 for its pioneering use of AJAX," said Alan Roter, vice president of informatics, Iconix Pharmaceuticals. "Having gone into production with General Interface four years ago, we're proud of the fact that DrugMatrix is one of the most mature implementations of AJAX in the enterprise today. Further, by using TIBCO's AJAX-based RIA solution instead of a standard client/server architecture, we were able to develop DrugMatrix for about a third of the cost and bring it to market twice as fast."

DrugMatrix is the first comprehensive research tool in the new field of chemogenomics, enabling pharmaceutical company researchers to select the highest quality leads and drug candidates at the earliest, most cost-effective stages of drug discovery and development. Leading research and pharmaceutical companies, including Bristol-Myers Squibb and Abbott Laboratories, use DrugMatrix to increase the odds of advancing the right compounds to the clinic, reducing attrition rates and the costs of drug discovery.

The annual InfoWorld 100 Awards honor top IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further their business goals. Iconix is also one of 20 finalists in line for the InfoWorld 100 Project of the Year Award. Full text of the InfoWorld 100 Awards is available online at: http://infoworld.com/3573 .
