Dexterra Acquires Mobile Java Company Octaneware
Also Receives $11 Million Funding

Dexterra has acquired Octanewave Software, Inc., a mobile software company located in Toronto, Canada, specializing in Java-based distributed computing. Working in partnership with Dexterra over the past 18 months, Octanewave has developed its platform, applications and tools with a philosophy to build easy-to-consume, flexible, change-ready solutions, according to Dexterra.

"Coming together with Dexterra allows us to offer the market its first mobile solution that eliminates the need to compromise," said Octanewave CEO, Mohammed Aamir. "With our combined platforms, devices and tools support we now offer our customers the ability to capitalize on their past IT investment without being constrained by their choice of mobile platform or device."

Dexterra has also secured $11 million in "Series C" funding. This will allow Dexterra to continue ramping up its support and partner ecosystem to keep pace with the more than 300% growth in customers Dexterra has experienced over the past year, the company says. Funding is also being used to accelerate Dexterra's research and development efforts to enable its product team to innovate faster and better than ever before.

"Customers have come to expect solutions that seamlessly redefine their front office by pushing new capabilities out to the edge of their business," commented Rob Loughan, chairman and CEO of Dexterra. "With the support of our investors, including Sigma, Canaan, Motorola and Intel, we are delivering to these expectations and more. The acquisition of Octanewave now provides Dexterra customers with expanded platform solutions that no other company can match."

Dexterra is also expanding to new regions, keeping the former Octanewave headquarters in Toronto, Canada as its major research and development location while expanding its sales presence to the dynamic Middle East market through its office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
