Your note that there may not be enough PowerBuilder developers is a chicken and egg problem for Sybase. Sybase needs to be agressive in several areas to reverse the tide. 1) The pricing has to change. Would it not be better to have many thousands of people buying it for half of its current list price rather than rely on a h...

DataSync and SugarCRM Form Strategic Partnership
Deliver Integrated Small Business Suite

Open Source Journal on Ulitzer

DataSync, a provider of integrated small business software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions, and SugarCRM, the world’s leading provider of commercial open source customer relationship management (CRM) software, have announced a strategic partnership to deliver an integrated suite of small business applications to small businesses.

DataSync is the developer of DataSync Suite, a small business software platform that integrates core business applications including SugarCRM, Quickbooks, Zimbra (mail/calendaring) and Drupal (website management) into a software-as-a-service web portal. DataSync Suite provides a single user sign-on, data syncing between applications and a user administration console, all at a cost-effective cloud-based service.

With SugarCRM at its core, DataSync Suite™ helps small businesses focus on their customers by connecting email, contacts, calendars, accounting software and websites into a central Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. The software eliminates dual-entry, simplifies order processing and automates sales processes. DataSync’s entire software suite is a cloud-based service that is accessible from any web browser and mobile device, and can be connected to desktop applications such as Microsoft Outlook.

In addition, DataSync today announced its first round of venture funding, with an infusion of $1.2 million led by Rain Source Capital to fund operations and expansion of the DataSync Suite: http://www.datasyncsuite.com/media/press-releases/october-6-2009/funding.

“This partnership with SugarCRM introduces a solution that is a first in the industry by delivering a complete, affordable open source suite to small businesses who have little or no IT resources,” said Mike Vetter, Chief Executive Officer, DataSync. “By partnering with one of the leading providers of customer relationship management software, we have a great opportunity to further extend our unique value proposition to small business users.”

“DataSync’s momentum and success is a testament to the ability of SugarCRM partners to deliver superior value to customers with open source solutions,” said Jeff Campbell, Vice President of Sales, SugarCRM, Inc. “We are thrilled to partner with DataSync as they address this underserved portion of the CRM market.”

Under the agreement with SugarCRM, DataSync will now be offering SugarCRM Professional® as a part of its standard package and will work with the company on joint marketing, sales promotion and the option of monthly payment for SugarCRM Professional licenses. DataSync and SugarCRM will begin to roll out the initiatives outlined in the agreement immediately.
